Studying the stomatal behavior of two rose cultivars in different light intensities

Light is one of the most important environmental factors affecting many aspects of plant growth and development. Rose leaves exposed to shade and sunlight typically show differences in many characteristics, including stomatal behavior. In this study, the effect of different light intensities on stomatal behavior of two rose cultivars was investigated under rose greenhouse conditions. The treatments included light intensities of 1200 (control), 640, 520, and 240 μmol/m2/s, which were applied to two commercial rose cultivars (‘Redwan’ and ‘Golmira’) using green nets. According to the results obtained, the length and width of the stomata were the highest at a light intensity of 640 μmol/m2/s, and in this respect, there was no difference between the cultivars. In terms of stomatal density, no significant difference was observed between different light intensities, but a significant difference was observed between the two rose cultivars, such that the rose cultivar 'Golmira' had a higher number of stomata than the rose cultivar 'Radoan'. Although the pore guidance showed a significant difference at the 5% level between only two rose varieties, the comparison of the averages of different light intensities did not show a significant difference in this regard, and only an increasing trend was obtained with increasing light intensity.
