The effect of non-chemical preservatives (plant essences) in the flower solutions of cut flowers of Delsoita variety rose

This study aimed to increase the shelf life of rose cut flowers and used eucalyptus and oregano essential oils at two concentrations of 250 and 500 (mg/liter) each in a completely randomized design. Cut flowers after being transferred from the greenhouse were treated with the aforementioned solutions for a period of time, and 4% sucrose was used in all treatments. The results of this study showed that the longest life of flowers was achieved with oregano essential oil at both concentrations, for 9 days, and the lowest wilting percentage was achieved in oregano essential oil at a concentration of 500 (mg/liter). In addition, the mentioned essential oils reduced the microbial load of the flower solutions compared to the control.
